Ian Hudghton (Greens/EFA) − The incidental catch of cetaceans is an unintended consequence of fisheries which fishermen themselves seek to avoid. My colleague Mr Romeva's report calls for the Commission to look again at the most effective ways of avoiding these by-catches. I support any initiatives which reduce these unwanted catches whilst protecting jobs in Europe's coastal communities.
