Ian Hudghton (Greens/EFA) ‒ I voted against the text in this report calling for an EU framework for road charging, as I believe that this must remain a national competence. In Scotland road transport is vital for the economic and social viability of highland, island and rural communities. I utterly reject the views of urban commentators who regard road transport as an ill which must be eliminated.
