Ian Hudghton (Greens/EFA) - This House had been subjected to intensive lobbying from the tobacco industry and it is regrettable that the final agreement is not as strong as it could have been. Nevertheless, I welcome the strengthening of the law insofar as it goes and am satisfied that Member States can press ahead with plain packaging. The Scottish government has fought the tobacco lobby through the courts and intends to maintain its fight against smoking.
