Ian Hudghton (Greens/EFA) The Council believes that Brazil has an important role to play in the fight against organised crime and we vote on this report on the very day the Brazilian congress has recommended an impeachment of that country’s president. The Panama Papers have however revealed that we do not have to look quite so far to find political leaders embroiled in dubious business in Latin America. Senior figures in the UK Tory party have been implicated in shady dealings – and we should remember that impeachment is a tool available in European Member States too.
