Ian Hudghton (Greens/EFA) ‒ The draft report was encouraging and I recognise that the rapporteur made an effort to include some input from my political group but, unfortunately, the right wing of Parliament forced a series of changes with unacceptable wording.
I favoured amendments focused on the need to make the single market compatible with the localisation of economic activities, investments in the green economy, public authorities’ right to regulate in the public interest, and high social and environmental standards in public procurement.
Whilst there are many elements in this report which I can support, on balance I consider that the right of this House has had too much influence and I could accordingly not endorse the final resolution.
